United In Uniform | J. W. Anderson
Is there a uniform that all women must abide by? Jonathan Anderson answers that question in his latest collection. That answer is no. The authority of a woman lies in her confidence and willingness to try something new. This unified idea of self-reinvention and risk taking was executed in the most J.W. way as possible.
A tiny, wire bra paired with pink, high-waist trousers was one of the many looks that created a conversation of femininity. How far will a woman to show off her natural silhouette? A bold, printed two-piece with Keith Haring-inspired white lines takes us back to the 1910s with the length of the dress and accentuated waistline. The padded shoulders and printed balloon pants were uncompromising and ideal for fashion risk takers. |
Backstage at his show, Anderson told Vogue that the documentary on Fran Lebowitz started the idea of his collection. In Public Speaking, Lebowitz subtly reveals the crippling dimensions of perfectionism. “She spoke about creativity and what it means now. This collection was about a woman’s honesty, and commentating on a moment,” he said.
Today’s woman will stand up for herself. She will speak up when it might not be approporiate. She transcends boundaries and, most importantly, creativity. Her demeanor, her energy and her style will speak for itself. J. W. Anderson’s spring/summer collection is a fashion moment that transcends to all types of women and that is where the strength of this collection lies. |
